Is data destruction the same as destroying the media on which data is stored?
No! Data destruction is the removal of data from a storage medium (the best and fast way for magnetic storage media is demagnetization – degaussing process). Media destruction is the physical damage of a data carrier by crushing, puncturing or shredding – this method is recommended for flash media.
