For years there has been a lot of talk about cybersecurity.

Everyone defends themselves against break-ins and data theft by using various firewalls, anti-virus, complicated passwords, MFA and encryption, investing a whole load of time, money and energy.

Then after that all the data amassed in smartphones, disks and other electronic carriers is tossed in the trash immediately after formatting, or fried in microwave ovens, or smashed with a hammer in the belief that this is enough…
But these methods only work in movies. Why?
